AiR-Project:

«Positioning of Indian contemporary art practice and its impact on the Indians residing in Switzerland» is my topic. In this, I intend to explore 2 aspects in my 3 month long residency in Zurich. 1. Positioning the Indian art practice in Switzerland, which I plan to do through sculpture installation, which will be either participatory or interactive (non digital) in nature, giving a sense of Indian mind set (through my work) set in a Swiss environment and the people as a whole how do they act or react, which will get either recording or projected live (if possible) & 2. Impact of Indians residing in Zurich, a documentation on the difference in life style and outlook in general and views on the practice of Indian Contemporary Visual arts in particular. Here I plan to video record and request them to fill up a questionnaire prepared after my initial interaction with these Indians and Swiss people in the swiss environment (2 interactive sessions). I wish to interact face to face and document 5 children (preferably between 12-18 yrs), who are born in India or have connection with Indian society in India, 5 Indian adults (not permanent resident yet) and 5 swiss people, who have been to India or have Indian friends. The edited version of the videos and the questionnaire will be project/displayed as an installation on my open day along with my other installation, mentioned a above. I would rely on my coach to assist and guide me to complete my project during my stay.
