THE FILM THAT IS NOT THERE is a multi-media project that dismembers the idea of a film that will never come to existence as such. Instead of shooting the movie, I want to dissolve it into several parts, all of them relating to a whole that will only be inferred, that will never exist as a unity. Along with invited collaborators, I develop several pieces in different medias - videos, photos, texts, drawings, costumes – based on a feature-film script I have written. These artworks relate to each other as pieces of a puzzle and take the viewer off his passive demeanor, provoking him to build his own narrative.

Each version of this project is unique; each residency provides a different setting, language, culture, and collaborators for me to work with. I plan to unify all these versions in a future wider exhibition, making all the pieces interact.

My proposal demands a long and time-consuming process and an environment favorable to the creative output, cross-cultural dialogues and the realization of partnerships with other international artists working in different media. I believe the residency at Rote Fabrik provides the ideal atmosphere to dedicate to my research, execute this proposal and exchange with other artists.
