Folklore and fairy tales:

I'll be using my residence time in Switzerland to carry out extensive research about folklore and fairy tales, tickling issues concerning the origin of folkloric symbols in different cultures and exploring the relation between these different symbols.

I am especially interested in the effect of fairy tales on our memory and whether they have been manipulated over time to suit culturual beliefs or developed normally, whether they are used as a teaching method for distinguishing good and the evil or simply as a means of entertainment.

Of course, I'll try to benefit from the residency in many other ways, including museum library and gallery visits, and develop a context specific collaborative project centered on fairy tales.
